His Lunch on the second day (today) Lunch box coming soon!

I don't think it needs to be said that I am not happy about the first day of school... :(. I am very very sad that he has to be gone all day long. 830-330. Too much time I think. I have said for a long time that I want to home school my children. For a lot of reasons. Reasons, I don't want to get in now. But my husband and I have had this discussion, pretty much since Isaiah was born and I have gone back and forth about which way I want to go. I know I shouldn't look at it like this, but Bill won this war. It is not a literal war, but it feels like one. Bill was "home schooled"....not really(only for a few years) and his experience was terrible, so he is all for the public school system and what it can do for our children. I believe that public school does do a lot for children and can provide a good decent education. I believe that they help special needs children in a way that someone who is home-schooling can never help their children. I went to public school and know how I feel about it. I loved school soooo much. But now as a grown up, I wish a lot of things with my education could have been different. I wanted more from my education, never got it and gave up. One of my soultions was home schooling. My children could truly learn at there own pace and advance or stay as they so need to. Now I know...I really know that it would be a difficult thing. I also know the aspect of home schooling about lack of interaction with other children. I know that school will be good for him. But....my baby is SWEET. I want to keep him that way and with the 7 hr a day 5 day a week influence he is getting in Public School I am a little concerned and worried about what the future holds. It truly would be nice if we had a Christian school close by, but we do not. Also, I'm not sure we could afford it. He did so well in Wallula last year and I was very pleased with the education, interaction and overall experience he had there. I do know that it will be different now.

With that said...it is what it is. Isaiah is in Public School. I have to trust that I have built a strong enough, tough enough, smart enough, little boy that knows (for a 5 yr old) what to do, how to behave, and what not to do. I also have to trust that God will protect him while he is there. It truly is harder than I ever imagined. I am supposed to just drop him off at a place where I KNOW absoloutely no one and expect him to be ok. I don't even like leaving him in a class at church where I don't know the teacher. I don't leave him with people I know that well. My mom and mother-in-law have been the baby sitters. We have left our kids a few times with other people, my sister, sister-in-law, a few friends, but other than that, NO. I can count on my two hands, the number of times he has stayed the night with someone else, and two of those times was because I was having a baby. Seriously....I do not like leaving him this long. I look at it like, God gave me these babies to raise and teach and grow them. I know that at some point you are supposed to "let go" but I really and truly do not believe that time is now. I know that my goal is to be as active as I possibly can in his education. I have to turn this into a positive for him. He already knows that this is very difficult for me. So I need to be ok with it and I need to be happy for him..I miss him though.

Ok now that the discussion about what I think is over....Isaiah had a really good day at school. He LOVED it very much. He was very excited to go back to school today. This is what he said happend:

~My teachers names is "Mrs. Stant" Mrs. Stanton is her name.
"I don't know why but I thought her name was Mrs. Wilson."

~"I do not like broccoli and carrots" "Can I have a lunch box like my friends?"

~I don't know my friends names yet

~I fell off of the "handle bars" on the playground and hurt my hand.
(monkey bars)

~I got up by myself and I was ok

~We live on the Earth by the moon

~My teacher lives in Kansas too.

~I colored a lot and a lot.

~I didn't like to take a nap, but I have to be quiet and not talk

~You are sad, but Daddy is happy for me for School

~My music teacher is a boy

~I played with the animal toys and I shared

~ It's ok to be sad and miss your mommy, but I was fine.

~I'm Excited to go tomorrow.

So with all that information I am trying to be more happy for him. I told him I was so Happy that he likes school and his teacher and friends. I am happy that he is happpy and happy that he does so well. It is just an adjustment that I have to get used to....and I will. This is why we dedicate our children and truly trust in God that he will protect them when we can't. Please pray for us as we adjust. I cried a lot yesterday. The girls did not know what to do without their brother, they just sat and did a whole lot of nothing when I was busy. Thomas is doing great though and hardly notices. Today is a better day and I know it will continue to get better and I may one day enjoy this time with my other children while he is in school. Angel is going to half days in the afternoon this year and starts on Monday, I will be busy, they are at 2 different schools. Next year they will both be in the same school hopefully. :) I think they will though.
We are excited to see what happens this school year and how much they will learn!!!!

This is our after-school activity :)

Had to get the girls in there too

Angel!
I just thought I would add this in here...if you have a bathtub...be very thankful....this is what "bathtime" looks like for us every night. It's not an easy task, but we get it done and our kids smell good :)
